Building Families in Frozen Temperatures

Recently, a 26-year-old woman from Tennessee, Tina Gibson, gave birth to a baby who was frozen 24 years ago as an embryo. This is the longest span of time from conception to birth ever recorded. Her baby was conceived just two years after Tina was born.  The embryo was donated from an older couple who froze their eggs when they were younger.

In a recent interview with FOX 29, RMA at Jefferson OB-GYN Dr. Jacqueline Gutmann, said that this process has happened for decades. She said, “from a medical standpoint it is actually pretty straight forward.”

Dr. Gutmann continued, “Our goal is to build families and that’s it.”
