To his patients, Reginald Ho, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology with a calming bedside manner. To Jefferson medical students, he is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
But to Notre Dame football fans and ESPN viewers, Reggie Ho is a folklore legend according to Coach Lou Holtz’s (1986-1996) interview in the 30for30 documentary.
Dr. Ho balanced a pre-med academic schedule with football practice as a walk-on kicker. In 1988, Dr. Ho kicked four field goals (tying a Notre Dame record) when the offense was unable to get in the end zone. His final kick sealed the win for the team. Later that season, Notre Dame won the National Championship, undefeated.
