Establishing Healthy Eating Habits Early

Getting your children to eat healthy is often challenging. That’s especially true because young children can be picky eaters and fast food is an easy alternative that’s sure to please. So it’s not surprising that obesity levels in the United States are high.

Dr. Elizabeth Rappaport, an associate professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University recently wrote a blog for philly.com about a new Pennsylvania program aimed at educating young students about health through writing assignments.

“We know that we must provide healthy environments, wholesome food, and adult guidance for children. We also must help them learn how to promote and maintain their own health and support the health of their families and communities,” Rappaport wrote.
