This Winter Leads in ER Visits

Uncle! Collectively we’ve all had enough of the winter of 2013-14; of all the snow, of all the freezing cold days, of the power outages, and of the accompanying winter related injuries.

As a recent article in The Philadelphia Inquirer notes it maybe the third worst winter, in terms of total snowfall, but this is “A Winter for the Ages.”

“This is the worst,” Theodore A. Christopher, MD, chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Jefferson, told the Inquirer. With a steady flow of ER visits due to weather related automobile accidents and people with broken bones from falls, Dr. Christopher explained, “There’s been nonstop orthopedic injuries.”
