Dr. Monti Interviewed about Alternative Medicine

Acupuncture therapy - alternative medicineMany people are looking beyond traditional medicine to help them feel better, treat their illnesses and live longer. There are thousands of alternative treatment options to choose from including supplements and holistic therapies.

Dr. Daniel Monti, MD, director of the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine, talks with WHYY’s Radio Times host, Marty Moss-Coane, about Jefferson’s center that combines traditional medicine with complimentary therapies.

Dr. Monti says, “We need to make a distinction between modalities that might support a patient during their treatment process versus making a claim that it is going to cure the disease.” He explains that while acupuncture might help patients who are undergoing radiation treatment, it is not going to cure their cancer.
